SHE DESERVES THE FREEDOM TO LEARN

Today is International Day of the Girl Child, a day that focuses attention on the need to address the challenges girls face and to promote girls’ empowerment and the fulfilment of their human rights.

The UN reports that there are 1.1 billion girls in the world right now, and nearly 1 in 4 girls aged 15–19 globally are not in education, employment, or training.

Education is important to Be Hers. One of the leading reasons girls become vulnerable to exploitation is because of lack of education.

Working with our partners in Cambodia we have recently funded the education of 16 girls for the next 12 months.

YARA PIC

One of the girls is Yara* who is studying the Cambodian equivalent of a TAFE course full time. The school is designed to help open Yara’s* horizons and try out careers that she may never have considered growing up in poverty and vulnerable to exploitation.

Your donation has made going to this school possible and has also provided her with tutors to help with mathematics classes and difficult homework.

For the first time in her life, she has the opportunity to learn computer skills - she loves it! Yara* wanted to attend graphic design and photo editing classes, however, the computers available to here were not able to run the necessary programs. Because of the donations of our community, we were also able to fund the purchase of a brand-new laptop and the programs. You have given her a chance to explore a new passion! We can’t wait to see what she creates in the future.

Be Hers is playing an increasing role in raising awareness and funds to fight for her rights, her freedom. By educating and empowering everyday people to use their resources to help we can generate change across the globe and it’s in no small part because of you. Thank you!

$100
